Good morning, Paul!
We’re focused on keeping our community informed of subject matter relevant to small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs here on the Business Beat. And this morning we’ve got news that applications are now open for the Black Girl Ventures Kroger Detroit Pitch Competition.
Black Girl Ventures is an organization that provides Black and Brown woman-identifying founders with support to help get businesses off the ground and succeeding. Their signature pitch competition for Black and Brown women-identifying entrepreneurs will take place this fall. Seven finalists will pitch their businesses to a panel of judges and the first-place winner will win $10,000. Second place gets $6,000, and third, $2000. Now Capital One just announced they’ll match the funds, effectively doubling these prize money amounts for the top three finalists.
Qualifying Black and Brown woman-identifying founders with revenue-generating businesses can submit their applications at blackgirlventures.org. Now the deadline to apply is July 1 and the finalists will be notified July 18. Look, not only do you have a shot to win cash when we need it most, but even just the experience of pitching your business, hearing what and how others pitch and the opportunity to meet your peers and potentially even mentors and partners, maybe even investors, that could be game-changing in the equation to realize your entrepreneurial dreams, make pitch competitions like this important stops on the calendar.
