How Many Dimes Make A Dollar?

Front and back of a 1980 American dime.

If you’re asking how many dimes make a dollar, the answer is 10. There are 100 cents in a dollar, and each dime is made up of ten cents.  Therefore, if you have 10 dimes, that means you have 100 cents, or 1 dollar.  Adding everything up becomes a simple exercise in math.

You just figure it like this:

1 dime = 10 cents.

1 dollar = 100 cents, so therefore you just divide 100/10 to yield 10.

There you have it. How many dimes are in $1 dollar? It’s 10.
